Hello and welcome!

For more than three decades, I've worked in marketing, communications and public relations—as an employee, a business owner, and everything in between.

About Me

I've spent 30 years learning the same lesson from different rooms: how we communicate determines whether we build trust or lose it, whether we lead well or just manage, whether we connect or miss each other entirely.

My journey began at a public relations firm, where I learned from some of the best in the business and discovered a passion for strategy and storytelling.

From there, I served as Director of Community Relations for a network of community mental health facilities, spent a decade at a global engineering and construction firm managing high-profile events and brand experiences worldwide, and later at a university managing programs and corporate events. I've also served as Vice President of Strategic Communications for a nonprofit government organization.

In 2010, I launched my own business. For the past 15 years, I've partnered with small businesses, nonprofits and social clients across the Midwest.

My education was anything but traditional. As a military spouse, moving around the country, working full-time, and raising three kids, I attended six colleges (over 20 years!!!) before earning my bachelor's degree in public relations from Old Dominion University and later my master's in communication and leadership from Park University.

These days, you'll find me writing about all of it and sharing my perspective and lessons learned along the way—freelancing for publications, working on a book, blogging, and keeping in touch through a consistently inconsistent newsletter. Or just as likely, gardening, remodeling a room or gathering family and friends around the table (or down at the lake). It's all the same pursuit, really: living intentionally, on purpose, in the moments that matter.

Keep it simple, and be kind.

~ Lisa
