I'm Lisa, a creative soul from Kansas City who has spent the last three decades as a marketer, communicator, and public relations practitioner.

I’ve had the privilege of building a dynamic career rooted in creativity, communication, and connection. My journey began at a public relations firm, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry. It’s where I sharpened my creativity, embraced my perfectionist tendencies, and discovered a passion for storytelling and strategy.
From there, I transitioned into the role of Director of Community Relations for a network of community mental health facilities. This role deepened my understanding of communication’s power to foster meaningful relationships. My next chapter brought me to a global engineering and construction firm where I spent a decade growing from a regional marketing representative to the Corporate Event Manager, overseeing high-profile events and developing brand experiences on an international scale.
In 2010, driven by a desire to chart my own path, I took a leap of faith and launched my own business. Fueled by grit, grace, and gratitude, I’ve spent the past 15 years partnering with small businesses, nonprofits, and social clients across the Midwest. From crafting communication strategies to orchestrating large-scale corporate events, my work has always centered on creating meaningful experiences. Along the way, I also served as Vice President of Strategic Communications for a nonprofit government organization, further strengthening my expertise in leadership and influence.
My educational journey was as unconventional as it was rewarding. As a military spouse, I pursued higher education across six different colleges, transferring credits, changing majors, and navigating life’s unexpected detours. After 20 years of persistence, I earned my bachelor’s degree in public relations from Old Dominion University (near our last duty station in Virginia). Never one to shy away from a challenge, and a testament to my belief in lifelong learning and personal growth, I later pursued and completed my master’s degree in communication and leadership from Park University.
Today, my focus is on writing, leading, and inspiring positive change. I’m passionate about promoting self-leadership, effective communication, and personal growth—all essential ingredients for a kinder, more open-minded world. Through my blog, content creation, and brand development work, my goal is to influence others by leading with empathy and living with purpose.
When I’m not writing or working on my business, you’ll find me embracing life’s simplest joys. Whether I’m gardening, remodeling a space, or entertaining family and friends, home is where I’m happiest. Time on the lake with my family—my proudest achievement—reminds me that life’s richest moments are often the simplest.
Keep it simple and be kind. ~ Lisa
